Our exclusive BedMatch system profiles your back using 18 statistical measurements and sensor technology to determine what mattress is right for you. Reviewed by physicians at Duke University, BedMatch was developed in collaboration with the Sleep to Live® Institute. You deserve to know which mattress is the best match for your body and budget.

When you begin shopping for a new mattress, where do you start? What is the best brand for you? Sleep to Live, Dormeo, Wellness, IntelliBed, Aireloom, Serta, Beautyrest, Stearns and Foster, or Tempur-Pedic? Inner coil, memory foam, or Hybrid? With all of these choices, how do you know which model will be the most comfortable for you? BedMatch can tell you in just a few minutes and here's how it works!

After you answer a few simple questions, Bed Match creates your statistical chart. Next, you lie on the computerized test bed and in five minutes you receive a personalized printout that gives you a color-coded recommendation for the proper postural support you need in a mattress.

With your personalized printout, and the help of a Sleep Spa Sleep Advocate, you will try the selection of mattresses available in your recommended support range to find the one best suited to your needs.

    How It Works

18 Primary Statistical Measurements Determined by Medical Research

For you, the test is simple, requiring less than five minutes to answer a few questions on a touch screen and then lay on a bed with sensors that inflate and deflate to determine proper support levels for the length of your body. In this short time, BedMatch calculates your results based on the following 18 statistical measurements determined by years of medical research as primary factors for mattress comfort and sleep health. These critical measurements are:

    • Gender Calculation
    • Height
    • Weight
    • Width of Waist
    • Width of Hips
    • Width of Shoulders
    • Low Back Pain Calculation
    • Hip Pain Calculation
    • Neck Pain Calculation
    • Mid Back Pain Calculation
    • Shoulder Pain Calculation
    • Weight of Shoulder Area
    • Weight of Hip Area
    • Weight of Waist Area
    • Distribution of Weight

What Type of Mattress is Right For Me?

The mattress industry has come a long way since the first metal spring mattress was revealed to the public. There have been many sleep surface innovations over the years from the waterbed to the futon to the inflatable mattress. Fast forward to now, there is a list of modern innovations for mattress quality earning their spots at the top based on customer satisfaction ratings. These include mattresses constructed with pocketed coils, memory foam, latex and cooling gels. So, how do you know which mattress is right for you?

Pocketed coils are individually wrapped springs that compress and move freely from one another to compress only in support areas. They are often designed with heavier gauge metal coils in these heavier pressure point areas such as the hip and shoulders to provide greater support for proper postural alignment. The independent compression of the coils also helps to reduce energy transfer to other parts of the bed when you move, that could affect a partner's sleep, though generally not as well as a quality memory foam mattress.

Do the number of coils in the mattress matter? The answer is yes and no. A mattress could have significantly more coils than another, but they may use a lower gauge of metal and may coil fewer times within each spring, reducing quality and support. When considering a pocketed coil mattress, it is important to ask questions about the gauge of metal and how many times the wraps to determine true quality. Pocketed coil mattresses can fall short to memory foam on overall comfort and movement depending on initial quality, but often can win for performance over time.

Memory Foam Mattresses consist mainly of "viscoelastic" polyurethane as well as additional chemicals that allow it to soften and conform with body heat and regain its original form when pressure is released. Certain memory foams are better engineered to allow airflow to sleep cooler and avoid sleeping hot. Memory foam mattresses will often include multiple layers designed for enhanced support with more rigid layers at the bottom and softer and more breathable layers at the top for comfort. Memory foam mattresses are also a keen choice for partners, as motion deadens in the mattress to make movement of one partner less noticeable to the other.

Latex Mattresses are created with either a Dunlop or Talalay manufacturing process for natural latex mattresses, where the latex actually comes from rubber trees. Synthetic latex is also a commonly produced with a similar density and feel of natural latex. Density is something latex mattresses have in common and are often heavier than other mattresses. Both natural and synthetic latex beds are produced with different support levels and firmness to accommodate a wide range of sleepers.

Gel-Infused Mattresses reduce heat transfer and better maintain ambient temperature with enhanced air circulation; allowing body heat to escape and not get trapped in the mattress. Much like latex, gel layered mattresses tend to add density and weight.

Hybrid mattresses combine two or more supporting mattress constructions. Common hybrids incorporate combinations of pocketed coils, memory foam, latex and gel. Hybrid mattresses often combine the best of worlds for comfort and quality to provide superior sleeping systems that match up to the best coil, memory foam, latex and gel mattresses.
